"BETTER IS BETTER"
The blue ENERGY STAR label means it was designed and built to standards well above most other homes on the market today. When ENERGY STAR’s rigorous requirements are applied to new home construction, the result is a home built better from the ground up, delivering better durability, better comfort, and reduced utility and maintenance costs.
Townhomes that earn the ENERGY STAR label are designed and verified to be at least 15% more energy efficient than buildings constructed using standard building practices. Units in these buildings are required to include ENERGY STAR certified refrigerators, dishwashers, clothes washers, and ceiling fans when these appliances are provided and have low-flow water fixtures that reduce water consumption.
Beyond featuring efficient appliances and equipment, these buildings combine an integrated approach to design with tried-and-true best practices for construction. Townhomes that earn the ENERGY STAR label also undergo a series of third-party inspections and testing by licensed engineers and architects to ensure that they perform as designed.
What does that all mean for you? Peace of mind that your townhome was designed to reduce your energy costs and lower your utility bill.
ENERGY STAR certified townhomes are designed to deliver comfort by:
It can be hard to tell if you are going to be comfortable at home in your new townhome. Inconsistent temperatures from room to room, humidity issues, and inadequate ventilation are all things that can seriously impact how comfortable you feel. The ENERGY STAR label on your unit signifies that it was built with your comfort in mind.

The more energy efficient your home is, the more you save on utility bills. The Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index is the industry standard by which a home's energy efficiency is measured. It’s also the nationally recognized system for inspecting and calculating a home's energy performance. Each of our homes includes a HERS rating so you can easily compare them with others, and estimate your annual utility bills.
A certified Home Energy Rater assesses the energy efficiency of a home, assigning it a relative performance score. The lower the number, the more energy efficient the home. The U.S. Department of Energy has determined that a typical resale home scores 130 on the HERS Index while a standard new home is awarded a rating of 100.
A home with a HERS Index Score of 70 is 30% more energy efficient than a standard new home. A home with a HERS Index Score of 130 is 30% less energy efficient than a standard new home.
